Getting started
- Find a place to sit down and be comfortable. Sessions last about 30 minutes.
- If using a training module that requires a login, have your login material readily available.
- Read all of the next steps before doing them:
- Set the hand controllers in front of you, correctly positioned left to right so you can pick up later.
- Put the headset on. It should turn on automatically. If not, hold in the button on the right side until it does.
- Make sure it fits comfortably. It needs to be just tight enough to hold its place on your face, and no tighter.
- Adjust the headset up and down until the picture in VR is as sharp as possible and readjust headset straps as needed once you find the right spot.
- Pick up the hand controllers and rotate them so the trigger button is facing away from you.
- In VR, ensure there is a laser pointer coming from at least one of your hands. If not, squeeze one of the triggers to activate the laser. The laser pointer is how you’ll interact with the UI until voice activation is engaged.
- To start READY, point your laser at “Use Anonymously” and squeeze the trigger to select
- Follow the instructions on the screen, which will guide you through the experience until it is done
Troubleshooting
- Need to exit or restart the READY app?
- Press the “Oculus” button on the right-hand controller. It is just below the joystick, flush with the surface, and has the Oculus logo on it. Then follow the instructions on the screen.
- Screen images not clear?
- Your peripheral vision will always be slightly blurry, but directly in front of you should look clear and crisp. If not, you have three ways to fix this:
- Move the headset vertically up or down on your face until it looks better.
- Rotate the angle of the headset relative to your face, pointing more up or down until it looks better.
- Use your left thumb to adjust the slider under the left eye to adjust the width of the lenses until the image is clear.
- Important: DO NOT wipe the lenses except with an approved lens cloth. If you scratch the lenses, it will cause permanent and irrecoverable blur.
- Your peripheral vision will always be slightly blurry, but directly in front of you should look clear and crisp. If not, you have three ways to fix this:
- Headset doesn’t turn on?
- Plug it in and ensure it is charged. The LED light on the right side will also give an indication of the status (meaning of the different light colors is here)
- Can’t see the controllers in VR?
- Ensure they have charged batteries. They use AA.
- Squeeze the triggers or press any of the buttons to wake them from sleep.

Wearing your headset
Putting on the Quest headset

- Loosen the side straps and then the top strap.
- Starting from the back, put on your headset.
- Make sure to pull the back strap down until it cradles the base of your head.
- If you’re wearing glasses, put on the headset from the front first.
- Tighten the side tabs and then top strap.
- Make sure that the straps aren't too tight. The headset should fit comfortably and not apply too much pressure on your face and head.
To adjust your view

- With your hands holding both sides of your headset, slowly move your Oculus Quest up and down until the picture is clear and the headset feels comfortable.
- If you wear glasses, insert the glasses spacer into your Oculus Quest headset prior to using it.
- If the image in your headset isn't clear, you can use your left thumb to move the image slider on the left of the bottom of your headset to the left and right until the image is clear.
